'Bonnie' Plum Released from the
Missouri State Fruit Experiment Station
(PL-129)
(From an open pollinated seed of 'America')
Compared to its parent, 'America', the fruit is similar
except that 'Bonnie' is larger with more red color and ripens earlier. The
flesh is yellow, juicy and much like the 'America' in flavor. It ripens
about July 1, which is very early for a firm, shipping plum. The tree is a
vigorous grower and produces bud and bloom which are hardier than most
varieties of plums. Introduced 1947.
