'Missouri' Peach Released from the
Missouri State Fruit Experiment Station
(PH-127)
(Open pollinated seedling of 'Sunbeam')
Like its seed parent, this peach has
fine texture, a high percentage of sugar and good freezing qualities;
however, it is larger, more highly colored and it ripens earlier. It has
short fuzz, a full red outside color and an orange-yellow under color,
which develops early. It somewhat resembles 'Tuskena' and 'Ambergen' clings,
but is itself a freestone when ripe. The flesh is yellow without any red
mixture; has good flavor and sufficient firmness to stand shipping. The
ripening date is four weeks before 'Elberta'. Introduced
1946.
