Missouri State Fruit Experiment Station

Three full crops, 1945-46-47, of large sized fruit with
no thinning, indicates good size. The color and shape resemble 'Elberta' in
general; however, the red on 'Poppy' is more pronounced. Its ripening season
is eight days before 'Elberta'. It appears to be ripe a week or ten days
before 'Elberta'. It appears to be ripe a week or ten days before it
actually reaches the hard ripe stage. The peach is a freestone with yellow
flesh of fine texture and flavor. It is a good shipper. Introduced 1947.
