Missouri State Fruit Experiment Station Mission Statement
The mission of the State Fruit Experiment Station is to discover and disseminate knowledge for the development of educated persons. The State Fruit Experiment Station at the Missouri State Mountain Grove Campus to accomplish this mission by supporting:
Research to increase knowledge
Advisement to disseminate knowledge
Teaching to impart knowledge
and Service to promote the mission
Research improves the basic understanding of the nature of fruit crops, provides practical solutions to problems associated with growing fruit in the mid-continent United States, and leads to new economic opportunities for the fruit industry in Missouri. Advisory programs are a primary method for disseminating information to the public. Educational opportunities for students include a Master of Science degree in Plant Science and undergraduate internships. Public service activities are supported in those areas that fulfill the University mission and contribute to the economic development of the state. The Department is committed to excellence in the disciplines of enology, entomology, molecular genetics, plant molecular virology, plant pathology, plant physiology, pomology and viticulture.
