Mountain Grove area residents support the Missouri State University Campus at Mountain Grove by participating in undergraduate and graduate educational programs, campus tours and special events and field days. The Videoconferencing rooms in Faurot Hall is part of the Missouri State Off-Campus and Interactive Video Program (Bearnet-Springfield). Students in the area can complete an associate degree at the Shannon Center in Mountain Grove through the West Plains Extended Campus program.
Many local residents call Faurot Hall, the original administration building, "the castle" and recall much of the historyf the State Fruit Experiment Station. Faurot Hall serves as a voting site for the community and area events may be scheduled here. Fresh fruit from the research plantings is available to local residents at the sales dock during the growing season.
KSMU, the university public radio station, has a broadcast tower in Mountain Grove at 88.1fm. Ozarks Public Television is also licensed through Missouri State University.
